The Sumava is the main natural attraction in South Bohemia. You can see the oldest mountain range of the Czech Republic which was once a royal forest that borders with Bavaria. Recognized by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this is a national park that you must visit during your vacation here with its virgin forests of beech trees and firs.

Lake Laka is one of the smallest glacial lakes of the region, but it offers enchanting beauty. Find a local tour guide to take you to the Vltava River, which is a national symbol, inspiring Bedrich Smetana to write his famous composition “Vltava.” Plan a trip to Cesky Krumlov as well, which is another UNESC Heritage Site for its well-preserved Renaissance beauty. The second largest castle in the Czech Republic is here as well, the Lords of Rosenberg, which features the Rosenberg family vault, 70,000 historical books (including first editions and manuscripts) and a gallery of Gothic paintings and luxurious rooms.

While here, try Eggenberg Beer, which is brewed in Cesky Krumlov. The original Budweiser was brewed here in Ceske Budejovice. Come to the Restaurant Barbakan to enjoy a great assortment of local dishes in a room that was once the gunpowder room of the town’s defense wall located across the bridge from the town square.

While in South Bohemia, find the Dominican Cloister or the Gothic-Renaissance Black Tower and Samson’s Fountain, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. Ask your personal tour guide to take you down Lannova Street in Ceske Budejovice for great shopping.
