Zlin

Zlin, a major city in the Zlin Region, is located in southeastern Moravia, on the Drevnice River, Czech Republic. The city is famous for its close connection with the Bata Shoes- a major shoe company of the world. The city was developed by the Tomas Bata of Bata family in the late 19th century. However, in 1939, his son left the country and after the war, the company was nationalized.

The first on the row, the Ebenezer Howard's Graden city movement, is a standing example of the city's modern architectural concepts. What is worth watching is the beautifully planned and constructed Garden City proposed by Ebenezer Howard. As the entire city grew up on the shape perceived by the shoe company, the city was modernized on their lines to suit the requirements of the company. The major constructions, restored facades and astounding architectural monuments provide the visitor a refreshing first impression of the city. One major construction of the city that makes it a major tourist attraction is The Villa of Tomas Bata, which is an architectural success. Built and conceptualized by Jan Kotera, a famous Czech architect, the building is now the address of the headquarters of Thomas Bata Foundation.
