Estonia

The Republic of Estonia is located in Northern Europe. This wonderful country has borders with Latvia to the north and south with Russia to the east, you can drive across the country in just four or five hours. Finland is across the Gulf of Finland and Sweden lies just across the Baltic Sea, both off which have ferry links.

There are five natural parks in the country including the immense Lahemaa National Park. This amazing park is just, 50km east of Tallinn and features 1000 sq km of wonderful bays, waterfront and forests. The area is ideal for hiking and fishing. Take a long hike through the forest. Most people who come to the country start by flying into the main international airport in Tallinn, Estonia's capital, which is also the cultural center. This amazing capital city has not only been able to preserve the old world charm, but it plays a role in everyday life. History in the city has been preserved. Visitors to the area will find that they don't need to visit a museum because are actually living in a working medieval city. Rent houses or apartments in the city and you and your family will feel like you are traveling back in time, while still enjoying modern conveniences. It's an amazing experience words can't accurately capture.

The educational Estonian Open Air Museum will allow you and your family a look at rural life, as well as the historic Kadriorg Park and Castle. This area is ideal to take your family to as it not only has great cultural significance to Estonians, but also offers some great outdoor areas to enjoy with your family or on a romantic stroll through an age-old castle.

The landscape in the western part of the country is covered with low lakes and thickets of reeds that make for some of the best fishing in the country. Spend hours taking sailing trips to the islands of Vilsandi and Abruka and go fishing as well. You can enjoy historical tours filled with military attractions in Tahkuna.

The western part of the country also features some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Österby is a beach that should be on your list of places to visit. There are many beaches in the area and a number of restaurants that are ideal for families of couples looking for a romantic night out.

The Estonian Golf Association is one of the best golf associations in Europe. The Tallinn Golf Club is home to one of the best courses in the country. There are more golf courses in Haapsalu and Valgeranna that you will enjoy as well. If you are looking for a great place to visit that offers golf, Estonia is the place for you. Travel from area to area and enjoy all of the different courses that Estonia has to offer.

Find a spa and health center in Parnu, which has six spa hotels. There are more spa and health centers in Kuressaare and the famous Fra Mare in Haapsalu. Parnu also offers boating, sailing and yachting trips out on the blue sea for your enjoyment. Another great place for boating and sailing is Lake Peipsi.

Go hunting for pheasants and other game at the Taagepera Castle for a one-of-a-kind experience. Take your family to the Metsamoori Family Park for the afternoon or try weaving in Nursi. And of course, if you are in Estonia, you must pick for wild berries and mushrooms (with the help of the locals, of course!) which is a popular tradition in Estonia. You will love the taste of wild berries compared to the cultivated berries you've had all your life!

Want to go horseback riding? Riding horses is a popular activity in Estonia. You can find plenty of tourist farms that will offer horseback rides and carriage rides through the town of Tori. In fact, you can even plough the field and do the farmwork that the locals will typically do. Staying in these one-of-a-kind farms will help you understand the everyday cultural lifestyle of what it means to live on a farm in Estonia.

Reserve houses and apartments in the area you prefer in Estonia. Stay a week or two to see all of the attractions and enjoy your favorite outdoor activities.
