Golfing Holidays in Burgundy
With its verdant countryside, world renowned vineyards and historic chateaux and castles Burgundy in France has much to offer for a pleasure loving tourist. The region is famous the world over for its spectacular wines but apart from wine connoisseurs, Burgundy is also popular with sporting enthusiasts who come to this rural region of France to indulge in sporting activities such as sailing, cycling, hiking, fishing and even golfing. Burgundy has over a thousand kilometres of canals and rivers which are dotted with pleasure boats and water sporting centres which are ideal for aqua sports.
Golfers also enjoy holidays in Burgundy as the region has 20 easily accessible but varied golf courses over its four different departments. These serene courses are easy to reach by motorway or TGV from the urban metros of Paris, Lyon and Geneva.
We offer golfers various forms of vacation rentals in the form of historic picturesque houses, villas, chateaux, gites and apartments which are located in close proximity to these courses so that maximum time can be spent practicing your swing rather than commuting to these greens. Several of these rentals are equipped with modern amenities such as saunas, Jacuzzis, pools and hot tubs which are ideal for relaxing and rejuvenating tired limbs in the evening after a strenuous day on the course. Maid service can be arranged for a nominal additional fee at many locations as well.
The Golf de Beaune Levernois is popular 18 hole championship course located 3km from the town of Beaune in Burgundy . The course which is built on lush grounds includes nine lakes and white sand bunkers which provide a variety of terrain for all levels of players. It was designed by Christian Piot in 1990 .The course features a driving range, golf lessons, golf club and buggy rental as well.
Yet another unique golf course located in the heart of Burgundy is situated at the base of medieval chateau called the Château de Chailly. This is another 18 hole course constructed over 185 acres of former farming land designed by two champion French golfers Thierry Sprecher and Géry Watine, in 1989.It features a stream, sand banks and water hazards and has a course that is suitable for golfers of every level. Golfers enjoy playing on this course which affords a view of the medieval chateau from every part of the course.
