At the Cathedrale St-Etienne in Metz, visitors can get a view overlooking both the nearby river and the city. The cathedral is an impressive structure with stained glass windows that have the largest surface area of any in France.

Next to the Cathedrale St-Etienne is the Place des Armes, which is famous for the four buildings that surround it. The buildings were specifically designed to symbolise the balance between four powers: religion (the cathedral), military (now a tourist office), civil government (the town hall), and justice (the court building). Bicycles can be rented next to the train station across from the Cathedrale St-Etienne.

The cultural capital of Lorraine, Nancy, is a colourful and lively city, offering many attractions as well as fine dining and nightclubs. In Nancy's town square, visitors can see impressive statutes and fountains, as well as the surrounding classic-style buildings. Nancy's Arc de Triomphe, or Arc Here, was built at the same time as the Place Stanislas, in honor of King Louis XV. Visitors can also take in an opera at the Place Stanislas, or watch films at The Cameo.

Lorraine offers many French restaurants along the rue des Marechaux in Nancy. Lorraine's speciality is its Quiche Lorraine, a quiche with little bacon bits this can be purchased in any boulangerie/patisserie or in restaurants. Nancy also offers many small bakeries and restaurants for a quick snack or meal.

Nancy offers many different night clubs, bars, and other drinking establishments. Le Ch'timi features specialty beers. Le Medieval often features live Irish music. Le Cyrano is a great wine bar. Cabane des Brassers brews its own beer.
