Paris Ile de France - Golf

Paris is surrounded by vast expanses of green countryside and forest, and the region boasts many outstanding and prestigious golf courses. These courses are easily accessible and golfers can discover Ile-de-France's delightful rural landscapes while they play.

One of the best known courses is Fontainbleau Golf Club. A short drive from Paris, it opened in 1909 and is one of France's oldest courses. Its narrow fairways are bordered with trees and it has 103 sand bunkers. Its Norman style clubhouse is decorated with tree frescoes. Fontainebleau is a very traditional golf club and many golfers consider it one of Europe's best. It is a private course but is open to guests at weekends.

Apremont Golf Country Club is an 18 hole John Jacobs designed course set in forest and around lakes. It is mainly flat and its expansive greens will test any golfer's putting skills. The course is 45km from Paris. East of Paris is Golf de Bussy St Georges, an 18-hole, par 72 course. It is flat but interspersed with wooded hillocks and water, and suitable for golfers of all levels. Cely Golf and Country Club features an 18 hole course set around a chateau, 16km northwest of Fountainebleau. The course is set in the middle of gardens and lakes and is easily accessible to all players. It also features a driving range. Advance bookings are advisable.

Golf de Saint Cloud, established in 1913, is an attractive parkland course. It varies between flat and undulating (after the seventh hole) and offers players stunning views over Paris. It is one of the region's top golfing venues. A few kilometres from the Disneyland Park in Paris, Golf Disneyland is open year round and is suitable for all skill levels. Three nine hole courses start and finish in front of the club house, so they can be combined to form three different 18 hole courses.
