Although the Musee d'Orsay in Paris contains many works of work by Monet and Van Gogh, the Ile de France has the actual landscapes which inspired these paintings. Visitors can see Claude Monet's house and garden at Giverny with its famous lily pond garden, which inspired his water lilies series. Auvers-sur-Oise is home to a wheat field which inspired Van Gogh's last burst of creativity before his death.

The Chateau de Versailles is the former residence of Louis XIV. Tours up to an hour long are available, allowing visitors to explore Marie Antoinette's private parlours and the palace opera house. The palace also features the impressive Hall of Mirrors and Marie Antoinette's opulent bed chamber.

For a first-hand experience with Mother Nature, visitors can travel to the forest of Fontainebleau. Bicycle tours can be booked at the tourist office at the Forest of Fontainebleau. The forest is full of hiking trails which wind through the lush forest. Trail guides can be hired for bicycle or walking tours. The forest is well-known for its amazing rock formations.

The Ile de France is home to Disneyland Paris, where visitors can visit the Castle, a fairy tale style castle or the Dragon Cave. Disney characters, parades, and events are also spread throughout the park each day. The park is most well-known for its rides and shows, which are continuously changing.
