Berlin, the German capital, is known for its many museums, historic palaces, and fantastic things to do for a fantastic family holiday. The city is second most populated city in the European Union. The Berlin wall was a physical and psychological separation between two parts of the country, but quickly established itself as the overall symbol of the Cold War. Most of the Berlin Wall has now been destroyed since the border opened in 1989. One famous section still stands along the East Side Gallery, but smaller parts can also be seen.
