The Archaeological Collection of Arta has been open since 1973. The collection is located in the former dining hall of the monastery of Paregoritissa. The monastery was built in the 13th century. The archaeological collection includes many stunning artifacts including funerary stelae, burial offerings and ancient artifacts from ancient Amvrakia and Koudounotrypa caves. Particularly impressive are the marble statuettes of Nike and Aphrodite from ancient Amvrakia.
The Archaeological Museum of Ioannina has been open since 1970. The museum is located near Litharitsia Park in a building designed by the renowned architect Aris Konstantinidis. The museum includes artifacts found at Paleolithic sites, from excavations in Dodona, the Oracle of the Dead and many other local archaeological sites. The museum also features a large collection of ancient coins, Byzantine folk art items, and numerous works of art from many Greek artists.
The museum and art gallery, Averof-Tositsa in Metsovo is a modern art museum which is home to over 250 works. Most of the works are from the personal collection of Evagelos Averof, and include paintings from famous Greek painters including Gyzis, Lytras, Maleas and Gikas. The collection is considered to be one of the best from this period. Visitors to the gallery can also enjoy the nearby Averofeian garden.
The Folk Art Museum in Zavrocho is home to many intriguing exhibits from the daily life of the people of Pogoni. The museum also features exhibits including items from the Balkan Wars and daily life during the Greek-Italian War during 1940-41. Visitors can also view displays of traditional costumes, cooking pans, and ploughs from the last century.
