Greece is home to some excellent golf courses, but according to all the experts, they are best played during Autumn and Spring, avoiding the Summer months, it provides a good variety of courses for golfers of all styles and levels. You will not need a special licence to golf in Greece. There are limited courses at this time and most are very modern as until the mid 1990 golf was not popular in Greece, now it is booming with courses being built all over the country. Epirus is easily accessible by both air links and rail links from throughout Europe.

Porto Carras Grand Resort Golf Club, Halkidiki is due to reopen in early 2008 and for the first time will be open to the public. It was an 18-hole par 71 course that was very easy to play by all accounts. The course has been closed since early 2006 while it has undergone a complete overhaul. When it reopens it will be still 18-holes but a par 72 now, and much more challenging. The most notable addition being 4 artificial lakes and connecting streams that are directly in the path of errant shots from at least 6 holes, many more trees have been planted and the roughs are now serious challenges. The objective of the new owners of the course is to try and bring professional tour events to the club.
