The famous poet Homer called Greece's coastal island Corfu a “beautiful and rich land.” The island includes hints of its Venetian, French and British influences in its architecture and cuisine. Corfu is very popular among travellers in the summer months because of its emerald mountains and beautiful rolling hills.

Many exotic flowers including rare orchids and lilies, cultivated cyclamens, snowdrops, tulips and wildflowers adorn the British Cemetery in Corfu. The cemetery is home to the final resting place of many British colonisers and soldiers, and the grave markers and inscriptions tell their own story of the British-influenced history of Corfu.

The island of Kefalonia includes four peninsulas, mountains and two impressive caves. The Melissani cave is particularly noteworthy because it is filled with brilliant blue water from an underground current which flows over the island.

Kefalonia's beautiful Sami beach is surrounded by mountains. Myrtos beach is also popular, probably due to its splendid scenery. Kefalonia also offers more secluded and less popular beaches on its southern shore, for visitors looking to relax.

The island of Zakynthos is a very flourishing island due to its mild winter rainfall, and its spring and early summer are particularly good for sight seeing. Visitors can see beautiful white cliffs near the sea, and boats may be hired to view the cliffs.

Zakynthos is also home to the Blue Caves, a series of caves which hold beautiful azure water. Many services provide boats which can be hired for private tours. Tours leave from Agios Nikolaos Port, Keri and Porto Vromi.
