Peloponnisos - Luxury
Peloponnisos is dotted with beautiful citrus groves and rolling hills. The area is also home to many famous monuments, including the site of the ancient Olympic Games and the best preserved theatre in Greece.
The Theatre in Epidauros has the reputation for being the best preserved theatre in Greece, due to the fact that it was entirely underground for many centuries and had to be dug up. The acoustics are superb and every word can be heard from all 55 tiers of the theatre. An annual drama festival is held here each summer.
The city of Argos is set amidst citrus groves and features many scattered ruins, including the ruins of a Roman bath, a roofed theatre, and a market. The theatre is particularly stunning, and its seats are well preserved, sprawling over a hillside. The Achaia Clauss in Patras is a winery which provides tastings. The winery is the oldest in Greece and was founded by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss in 1854. The winery produces many distinctive wines, including Mavrodaphne, a rich dessert wine, and many barrels store vintages from Gustav's time.
Ancient Olympia is the site of the ancient Olympic Games. Olympia is also home to the Museum of the Olympic Games, with a collection of medals and memorabilia from the games throughout the year. In Pylos, boat tours are available to see the sunken Turkish ships and Tsichli Baba, a rock with a natural arch which was once a pirate hideout. Boats often stop at Nestor's cave.
