Greece is home to six golf courses, but according to all the experts, they are best played during Autumn and Spring, avoiding the Summer months which can be very hot. There are a good variety of courses for golfers of all styles and levels. By late 2008 another 5 courses will have opened. There are limited courses at this time and most are very modern as until the mid 1990's golf was not popular in Greece, now it is booming, especially on the islands. Greece is easily accessible by both air and rail links from throughout Europe.
The Glyfada Golf Course is a green oasis of rolling hills, landscaped with mature trees and shrubbery. The Glyfada Golf Course is located in the seaside town of Glyfada which is a suburb of Athens. The course is an 18 hole, Par 72 course and was designed by Donald Harradine.
The Corfu Golf Club's beautiful course has been praised by many as one of golf's best-kept secrets in Europe. It was designed by the famous Swiss based architect, Donald Harradine and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test.
The Afandou Golf Club on the island of Rhodes is another Donald Harradine designed course, it is 18-holes, par 73. The course is one of the most tactically challenging in Europe, and is definitely not a course for the novice golfer.
