Hungary is an ideal country for a family vacation. The amazing landscape lends itself to casual drives through the countryside. Nearly half of the country consists of rolling planes. The region of Transdanubia in Hungary is a for the most part a slightly elevated area and features a great view of the Mecsek Mountains and Villány Mountains. The country is divided in two by the Danube River. The other major waterways in the area are the Tisza and the Dráva Rivers. These rivers are ideal for freshwater fishing. Many times tourists are amazed by the amount of fishermen along the banks of these stunningly beautiful waterways. Hungary is also home to the largest thermal lake in the world, Lake Hévíz. Take the time to visit as many areas in the country as possible. There are some truly amazing views in Hungary. Some fishermen come back to the same spot year after year just to relive the moment they first set foot along the banks of the river. Many sportsmen will come to the country just to hunt and fish due to the plentiful fish and game that Hungary is known for. The summers offer great weather for golf and for just wading into any of the rivers in the country. Take a boat ride down the Danube River in comfort or just sit on the banks and take in the beauty. Many visitors to the area are amazed at the sheer beauty and tranquility of the rivers in the area.

Many visitors to the area decide to rent a house or apartment in one of the major cities. There is so much history to see in the major metropolitan areas that some tourists spend their entire trip in one area. There are a number of houses and apartments in the more rural areas of Hungary. These areas lack the hustle and bustle of the major cities, but the country views and landscape more than makes up for it. It wouldn't be a true trip to Hungary without sampling the amazing Hungarian cuisine. Hungarian food is often somewhat spicy. Many Hungarian chefs use paprika, onions and liberal amounts of black pepper. Potatoes are featured in many of the dishes that are common in Hungary. Fish based soups are very popular in Hungary. There are many vegetarian dishes that are popular in the country. There are a number of soups that have a base that is made up of fruits. Many of the local restaurants use only ingredients that are found in the area, and many only use vegetables that they use themselves and they often raise they livestock they put in meat dishes as well. The rivers in the area are full of fish and they are found in a large amount of the meals that are common in Hungary.
