Hungary is an ideal country for a family vacation. The amazing landscape lends itself to casual drives through the countryside. Nearly half of the country consists of rolling planes. Area

The region of Transdanubia in Hungary is a for the most part a slightly elevated area and features a great view of the Mecsek Mountains and Villány Mountains. There are some high mountains along the Slovakian border. The reach an altitude of over 3327 feet. Tourists do not generally visit this area of Hungary. The country is divided in two by the Danube River. The other major waterways in the area are the Tisza and the Dráva Rivers. These rivers are ideal for freshwater fishing. Many times tourists are amazed by the amount of fishermen along the banks of these stunningly beautiful waterways. Hungary is also home to the largest thermal lake in the world, Lake Hévíz. Take the time to visit as many areas in the country as possible. There are some truly amazing views in Hungary. It would be a shame to visit Hungary and not spend time taking in the amazing countryside or stunning water views. The Danube River is known throughout the world as one of the most amazing water ways.

Summers in Hungary are fairly mild. The temperatures average in the low 90s °F. The winters can get pretty cold with low temperatures coming in around to to 5 °F. The rain in the area is pretty average. Hungary averages around two feet of rain annually. Hungary normally receives snow in the winter. Travel to Hungary in the winter can truly be amazing, while you may not be able to golf, you can go clay shooting then try your hand at hunting one of the amazing game animals in the area. Game shooting in the area around the Tisva River is particularly bountiful and the favorite destination of many hunters and sportsmen. There are numerous hunting areas and all sportsmen generally agree that the area has some of the best and most diverse game in the world. Take a day and just fish along one of the many rivers in Hungary. Fishing and taking in the amazing scenery is sure to leave you with some of your most amazing memories of your life. Some fishermen come back to the same spot year after year just to relive the moment they first set foot along the banks of the river. Many sportsmen will come to the country just to hunt and fish due to the plentiful fish and game that Hungary is known for. The summers offer great weather for golf and for just wading into any of the rivers in the country. Take a boat ride down the Danube River in comfort or just sit on the banks and take in the beauty. Many visitors to the area decide to rent a house or apartment in one of the major cities. There is so much history to see in the major metropolitan areas that some tourists spend their entire trip in one area. There are a number of houses and apartments in the more rural areas of Hungary. These areas lack the hustle and bustle of the major cities, but the country views and landscape more than makes up for it. You can take advantage of both the city life and country life by splitting your trip into segments. Spend some time in the cities and some time in the country and enjoy all that Hungary has to offer. The cities have a great mix of old world charm and modern amenities. No matter where you stay, in a home, apartment or hotel you are sure to feel comfortable. The amazing history in the area is ideal for history buffs as well as people just looking to take in the historic architecture. There are thousands of historic buildings in the country. Take a tour of the major historic sites in the area or get a map and just wander around the streets of the major cities. No matter what you do, you will be guaranteed to have an amazing time that you will never ever forget.

It wouldn't be a true trip to Hungary without sampling the amazing Hungarian cuisine. Hungarian food is often somewhat spicy. Many Hungarian chefs use paprika, onions and liberal amounts of black pepper. Potatoes are featured in many of the dishes that are common in Hungary. Fish based soups are very popular in Hungary. The fishing along the major rivers in the country have led to the area being known for the amazing fish based soups that are the specialties of not only the chefs in the country but in everyones home. When you travel to Hungary take the time to go to different restaurants along the rivers. The same dish may taste completely different in each area of the country. There are many vegetarian dishes that are popular in the country. There are a number of soups that have a base that is made up of fruits. Take a trip into any of the small towns and just wander into any of the restaurants you pass and you will most assuredly have an amazing meal. Many of the local restaurants use only ingredients that are found in the area, and many only use vegetables that they use themselves and they often raise they livestock they put in meat dishes as well. The rivers in the area are full of fish and they are found in a large amount of the meals that are common in Hungary.
