Northern Holland - Golf

Northern Holland is a wonderful province of the Netherlands offering tourist attractions, beautiful beaches, great sports, year round recreation plus the spectacular city of Amsterdam.

Northern Holland has more than twenty golf facilities but only eight of them are public courses. Most of these are more or less for the exclusive use of a golf club. These courses have come together under the name: Gastgerichte Golfbanen Noord Holland which means “Welcoming Golf Courses of North Holland”.

Located right behind the dunes and the sea, 'De Texelse' is a real links course. A 9 hole dunes course with large greens partly formed by the wind, De Texelse features magnificent rows of dunes on and around the course creating interesting optical effects which will certainly influence your game. The wind is very important here because the orientation of each hole is different. This par 72 course has been in use since 1997.

Only a short distance from the bustling city of Amsterdam, a recently renovated but still authentic farm, called Dwarsveld, offers visitors a beautiful view of lush green meadowlands and 45 holes of golf. De Purmer is located between the cities Edam/Volendam and Purmerend, within 15 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam. Because of its excellent location you can visit some of North Holland's best tourist attractions, such as the cheese markets in Alkmaar and Edam or the open air museum in Zaanse schans, or you can relax with a great round or two of golf.

Since last July, BurgGolf Purmerend has developed three courses offering a total of 45 holes. Four baanlussen of 9 holes each, make up 36 holes. These courses can be played in numerous loops so you can spend four days and still never play the same loop twice. There is also a short 9 hole course which has holes varying from 50 metres up to 150 metres. The championship courses have holes which vary in length from 120 metres to 500 metres. In addition to Amsterdam, Northern Holland offers spectacular beachfront destinations such as Julianadorp aa Zee and Texal Island, the largest of the Wadden Islands approachable by hourly ferries.
