The Friesland area is home to many exciting nightspots. The Café Mukkes features live local bands to a young crowd and Noa plays a variety of music. Paddy O'Ryan serves the only Guinness in the area, and features Irish music and an Irish breakfast.

Visitors can take a canoeing tour of the Friesland area, viewing the region's beautiful country waterways and canals. Canoes can be rented from DeKievit, De Ulepanne/Balk, or Konoverhuur Hollema. With Northern Hollands many waters, it is the perfect place for sailing and boating. During the summer months, visitors can watch many sailing races, including the Skutjesilen Races in late July. Visitors can also rent boats and sailboats from De Blieken and Watersportcamping Heeg.
