Eastern Poland–Golf
Poland is the perfect place to spend your next golfing vacation. Eastern Poland's villages and small towns offer the opportunity to get away from the bustle of modern life, while cities invite visitors to magnificent encounters with culture and history. All this comes with a backdrop of breathtaking natural landscapes and plenty of geographic diversity.
Most of the golf courses in Poland are located in the southern region near Krokov or to the far northwest but there are some fine golf courses near, and in-between, the eastern citiy of Warchaw North of Warchaw (Warsaw), Gdansk joins with Sopot and Gdynia to form a municipal conglomerate with a population of almost 1 million.
Toya Golf and Country Club in Wroclaw, is a beautifully designed golf course. The architect created this challenging 18-hole course in a former military range by leaving a ‘real bunker and an observation tower' all perfectly hidden between newly planted trees and artificial lakes. The golf course is at the outskirts of the town, near the airport. The Golf Club known as Lisia Polana, is the second Warsaw golf course recently created.
The quiet village of Postolowo is situated 26 kilometers from Gdansk. The Postolowo Golf Club near Gdansk was recently ranked by Golf Digest as the best golf course in Poland. It is also the longest PAR 72 course in Europe, with a length of 7094 meters. Originally the course was 7758 yards. In 2006, a new 9-hole back tee was added at the suggestion of PGA European Tour Director Mikael Ericsson, who visited the course in 2004. The German Golf Journal Magazine calls Postolowo a “monster” of a course and many pros hail it as one of the most challenging golf courses of the world.
Poland's Professional Golf Association credits the opening of three new courses in recent years for the increased popularity of the sport. Two of those newer courses are located in the east near Warsaw. A third new course, is the Rosa Private Golf Club. Located in Czestochowa, the course was designed by Austrian Hans Georg Erhardt. It is a flat golf course with 14 hectares of water to be either avoided or to provide a watery grave.
The PGA of Poland, based out of Warsaw is equally active on the Education front. In 2002, it launched a comprehensive training and marketing program to increase awareness and involvement in the sport of golf throughout all of Poland. So far, the efforts have paid off and golf membership in Poland has increased by more than 50 percent. Visit pmf Golf guide for more information
