The Azores - Golf

The Azores lies 900 miles from the coast of Portugal in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The Islands cover an area of some six hundred kilometres in length and a land area of 2.333 square kilometres and is made up of extinct volcanoes, lakes and hot mineral springs. What is more, you can find some of the best golfing experiences in a beautiful place.

The Batalha Golf Course is a beautiful course designed by the architect Cameron Powell and was completed in 1995. It stretches over 6419 metres, has 18 holes strategically placed with challenges to test any golfer. Situated on the North Coast of the Island of S.Miguel and adjoining the Atlantic sea. The course is situated about 10 km from Ponta Delgada.

The Furnas Golf Course was designed by McKenzie Ross and constructed 1938. It has 9 holes but was then extended to 18 holes. This golfing arena covers 6229 metres. The Verdegolf International is hosted at The Furnas. This is an amateur tournament held in April and the amateurs and pros are held during the month of October. The course is famous for its natural ambience. Due to the warm climate you can play golf all year round.

The Terceira Island Golf Club was opened in 1954 and has amazing landscapes. It has some astounding landscapes, with trees, low hills and small lakes, where azaleas and beautiful hydrangeas are seen.
