Isla de Vieques

The Isla de Vieques lies 8 miles off the coast of the Puerto Rican mainland. This 21 mile wide island features some truly amazing ocean views and some great beach locations. The island can be reached by boat, ferry or small airplane. The flight is short but flying into Isla de Vieques is truly an amazing experience. The airport is right on the water and set against a hill, so flying in is both scenic and a bit harrowing at times. Once you get to Isla de Vieques you will be treated to one of the best islands in the world. The small towns on the island feature some truly amazing romantic restaurants. These quaint establishments offer island cuisine that is native to Puerto Rico.

Rent a bungalow on Isla de Vieques and feel like a native. There are a number of great bungalows on the island that feature excellent views of the waters surrounding the island. Many visitors rent properties right on the cliffs surrounding the island so they can just wake up and look out at the water each morning or sit outside and stare at the stars above the ocean waters. There are quite a few places to rent on the interior of the island as well. Getting around the island is easy. The roads are ideal for renting a vehicle. You can easily get around the island via cab if needed. Getting your family from the beach to the town is easy on Isla de Vieques.

Head to the water and schedule a charter to go sea fishing. There are boats that go out each day and at all hours, so you can easily find a trip that meets your schedule. Take your family or head out on your own. Walking and hiking is another fun thing to do on Isla de Vieques. There are a number of trails by the water and a number of others that meander through the towns and hills.
