Visit the South Atlantic States in the United States to witness a piece of the country that is filled with history, cultural attractions and plenty to entice you with attractions, adventures and more. The South Atlantic States are one of nine divisions within the United States, consisting of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington DC.

Florida

When you visit this area of the country, you can stay here for weeks and still be busy with things to do. After all, each state offers a number of exciting activities and historical attractions for you to choose from. Whether you are traveling as a romantic couple or as a family, you can find plenty of things to do in the South Atlantic States in the U.S.

Start with Florida to see a Vacationer's Paradise. Florida was built on the dollars of tourism and continues to welcome visitors with open arms every day. There are a number of places to see in Florida, including the famous Walt Disney World and its sister resorts, Epcot, MGM Grand and the unaffiliated Universal Studios. Ride roller coasters and watch your favorite characters come to life for days on end with these theme parks. You can also see the Kennedy Space Center and catch a space shuttle launch. Visit some of the best beaches on Florida's West Coast, including Destin or catch up with the latest in sophisticated living in Miami. See the historical heritage of the United States come to life when you visit the Castillo de San Marcos, which is the oldest remaining European fort in the U.S., located in Jacksonville. See Florida's Ancient City, which features old-world charm and monuments in St. Augustine. Be sure to also check out Florida's first lighthouse when you are in St. Augustine as well!

Florida offers superior water sports as well. Go deep sea fishing off the coast of Key West for big game fish or try fresh water fishing in the rivers in Northern Florida. Go scuba diving off the coast of the Florida Keys for underwater shipwrecks and coral reefs or try hiking through the famous Everglades National Park. And of course, the golf courses in Florida provide world-class resorts that challenge your game while providing a one-of-a-kind background setting.

Visit the nation's capital when you see Washington DC. With majestic buildings that inspire awe and a number of cultural and historical attractions, you will spend hours gaining a deeper appreciation for how the United States was created and how it continues to thrive today. Visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial or the Washington Monument that towers in the sky. Visit a life-like version of Abraham Lincoln when you see the Lincoln Monument. There are a number of National buildings as well, including the National Zoo, the National Air and Space Musuem and the National Gallery of Art. Visit the Smithsonian Institute for a number of interesting cultural and historical artifacts or check out the United States Capitol, the United State Supreme Court or the famous White House, where the President lives.

Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina offer a glimpse into Southern culture with a unique regional cuisine and dialect that cannot be missed. Set in a lovely landscape with rolling hills and some of the friendliest people in the country, these states feature an array of attractions, including Atlanta (Georgia's capital and frequently called the 'New York City of the South') and the expansive beaches, including Ocean Isle Beach, Cape Hatteras and more.

Visit Maryland for the beautiful scenery and to taste the famous Maryland crab that is featured there. You can also find glimpses of America's colonial past when you visit Calvert County and their neighboring cliffs for the 1883 cottage-style lighthouse, archaeological digs and more. Fishing in Maryland is also great when you take a boat off the coast. See the city of Baltimore for the National Aquarium and more attractions.

Delaware was America's first state, so this region is teeming with historic and ||link|ht2c62cultural attractions. Spend a weekend here visiting the Nutter. D. Marvel Carriage Museum, the Air Mobility Command Museum and the Wilmington and Western Railroad. You can see a number of colonial attractions and monuments, while enjoying crisp weather that puts you in a great mood when you are in Delaware.

No matter where you are staying, you will need a property to keep you comfortable. Find a romantic bungalow on the coast for a private vacation experience or rent houses with luxury pools and a BBQ in the backyard for a fun family adventure.
